Weekend is almost here and if you want to have a little getaway from the city. Chantilly is a beautiful town to visit which not really far from Paris. You can visit the famous Château de Chantilly that was built around 1560 and the Great Stables Racecourse. Besides the Château, Chantilly is also well related with the invention of the whipped cream (French crème de Chantilly). Which was often attributed to François Vatel, maître d’hôtel of the Château de Chantilly between 1663 and 1671.

Where to stay:
Le Grand Pavillon Chantilly by Hyatt
This hotel is located 5 minutes from the Château, is a must visit for your romantic or family weekend in the countryside. Amble along the century-old, tree-lined walkways, not far from the Nonette river, and immerse yourself in the wonderfully calm and rural atmosphere of this hotel. This hotel has a spa, a heated pool, fine dining restaurant Le Nord, buffet restaurant le Craft, and the bar Le Condé.

If you happen to choose to stay at this hotel, then you must at least try having a quick drink or what the French refer to as apéro time! The food at the Craft buffet restaurant is quite fine. But, it is not top-notch enough that I would go back to if I had to.

WHERE TO EAT:
If you’re into French brasseries with simple food, great ambiance, and affordable prices, you must visit this very old brasserie, Le Sylvia. This restaurant first opened in 1920. I was quite surprised that the food is really good despite the restaurant decorations being quite edgy. The menu offers French bistro/bar food. I ordered a classic omelette and was surprised by the size and taste of it. It was one of the best omelette I have ever eaten in a restaurant. They served it with fries and a salad.

I will definitely add Chantilly to my travel bucket list. It looks absolutely stunning and just walking through the city sounds lovely.
